About the procedure

Video of the procedure

Broken capillaries (telangiectasia) occur when the capillary walls narrow and widen too quickly causing the muscles in the walls to tear. This in turn allows the blood to seep out resulting in broken capillaries. Broken capillaries are commonly found on the cheeks, chest, and nose areas. These appear as small red / pink threads under the skins’ surface. Common causes are genetic predisposition, sun damage and injury or fluctuating estrogen levels as well as high blood pressure and exposure to harsh weather. Broken capillaries are typically a cosmetic problem rather than a health issue.

In electrolysis treatment, Dr. Boneva uses a fine needle to send electrical current into the skin to destroy the capillaries. Through treatment(s) a cauterization of the blood vessel occurs causing it to be reabsorbed by the body. Results are immediate, and treatments vary on severity of capillaries present.

For post treatment, Dr.Boneva recommends always using SBF 35 during all seasons.
